Frequently Asked Questions

What is PPC?

PPC stands for Pay Per Click and is a paid link through a vendor like Google or Bing that will generate paid traffic to your website.  PPC does not guarantee revenue and you will need to pay for each and every click that comes through those paid links.

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and is the broad definition of the tactic of getting a website to rank naturally within the organic (e.g., unpaid) listings among various search engines.  The value of being ranked naturally on these search engines is that the website will receive free traffic, rather than having to pay for each click as you would through PPC.

How do I rank organically in Google?

Google gets over 60% of the market for search engines, so naturally most of the focus should be on ranking well organically within Google itself.  Google’s algorithm is far more advanced than any other search algorithm, so there are a myriad of factors that will play into ranking naturally there.  Here are just a few:

  1. Website’s relevance to keywords
  2. Quantity and quality of backlinks to a website
  3. Relevant content associates with website (either on or off the website)
  4. Social Metrics (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, other social networks, etc.)

Essentially, ranking well in Google will come down to how well your website is optimized and how relevant the content and backlinks to your website relate to the keywords you would like to rank well for.

Why is SEO important?

The internet is growing by leaps and bounds; replacing much of the more traditional methods of finding local businesses.  If your business does not rank well on the major search engines, then you are losing out on an every increasing market share of potential consumers.
